Let the Adventure Begin

Atlanta Departure: Wed, 1/26
Singapore Arrival: Fri, 1/28

After what feels like a century (only a 2-year process), I’m heading to Singapore for my Fulbright DAT. None of us expected COVID to flip the world upside down, but as the months passed, we learned to cope, adjust, and forge ahead. I am filled with an immense amount of gratitude to be selected for the opportunity to conduct research in Singapore. I am grateful for IREX, especially Peter, Caroline, and Dr. Smith. Their assistance throughout this process has kept me motivated despite the ever-changing plans dealing with a global pandemic.

A huge thank you to the entire team at the Singapore Ministry of Education for guiding me through your national education structure, curriculum, and professional development, so swee (working on my Singlish). Thank you DCPS and Bard DC for allowing me to take educational leave and bring back my research to our community. Thank you to Apogee Executive Coaching for helping me to reset and manifest my dreams.

I am grateful for my students who continue to fill my life with joy, laughter, and purpose. I am excited to meet the students in Singapore and learn about their educational experiences and aspirations. One of my goals is to build connections between our young people, and I’m looking forward to introducing them to each other virtually.
